Information Quality

TIQM Consulting

  • Assessed and improved a global humanitarian organization, Donor information. Co-led with Larry English, a world leader in Information Quality,  an assessment through data measurements and physical audits, including analysis of root issues and identified in excess of $20M of areas to improve donor information.
  • Advanced the International Association of Information and Data Quality in the development of an accredited Certification for Information Quality Professionals. Acquired an accreditation firm and helped a panel of 12-international experts establish the domain and certification outline.  Although the certification work continues, this will establish a new career for Information Quality Professional in the Information Age.

Master Data Management and Governance for Intel

  • Led a corporate efforts with the business to align and define six major master data areas across Intel. Intel did not have an overall blueprint for their key master data.  Working with several focused teams, to design the enterprise architecture and infrastructural capabilities for master data management. Worked with five major master data management companies to launch an aggressive roadmap to completion. The resulting blueprints are guiding Intel to multi-million dollar improvements in each of their Master data areas.
  • Led a enterprise team, to establish the corporate model for data governance. Improvements in master data would have been short lived without a sustainable business/IT process to govern the usage and maintenance of this high value asset. Leveraging the blueprints the new model governed and controlled the allocation of improvement funds and changes to enterprise business processes that created and utilized the master data.

Led Enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Quality Paradigms for Intel

  • Established the Information Quality paradigm at Intel through a Total Information Quality Methodology.  Even though Intel had launched a major eCommerce effort, these highlighted the need to improve the quality of their data across the board. TIQM®, a comprehensive approach to identify, measure, and address critical data issues. During this initiative led several teams to correct root issues with Intel’s Item (part number) Bill of Materials, and Supply and Demand subject areas to support state of the art planning tools. This not only raised the priority of good data across the supply chain due to multi-million dollar savings, but also gave Intel a repeatable methodology to continuously improve information quality.
  • In a parallel effort to improve the decisions with data, led a team to move Intel to “one version of the truth” for decision support through an Enterprise Data Warehouse and single Decision Support Tool. As part of this effort, formed a global Decision Support Service to improve business agility, technical skills, and resource planning. This enabled Intel to see an integrated view of the value chain and make better business decisions.

Led Decision Support Paradigm Shifts for Intel Planning

  • Intel’s Systems Manufacturing was missing an Integrated View of planning data across their supply chain. Led a team to integrated Systems Manufacturing and Corporate Materials data through a central data warehouse including OLAP analytics and dashboard indicators that set the foundation for their Advanced Planning Systems. As part of this effort, led an initiative to establish a Decision Support Utility to serve as the foundation for Enterprise Decision Support at Intel. As a result, the central data store became the building block for all new planning models and advance planning tools.
  • Intel’s Systems Manufacturing needed a more responsive supply chain model to compete with the world. Led a team to implement an integrated set of Advanced Planning Solution Tools that became the model for the Components Manufacturing’s Advance Planning Systems efforts.
  • Intel’s Component Manufacturing needed a different model for supply chain planning in order to be responsive to their customers. Led a global team to pilot Build-to-Order and Build-to-Replenishment planning models within Intel’s Components Group. This opened the door for the use of Advance Planning Solutions and a more responsive supply chain.

Led a Paperless Factory Paradigm for Intel

  • Helped to lead Systems Manufacturing to a paperless and automated factory through the development of Intel’s Factory Information and Control System (iFICS®). Developed, Implemented and sustained the system involving more than 8000 users, 120-networked systems, 2000 terminals and 2 million transactions a day. It is Intel’s longest running in-house developed system. The system enables an integrated real-time view of WIP and quality data for both Intel’s internal and external Systems Manufacturing and Planning organizations and is still in use today.

Information Reengineering

  • Led a global team to introduce a Build to Order and Build to Replenishment Planning Models within Intel’s Components Group. This opened the door for Advance Planning Solutions and a more responsive supply chain.
  • Implemented and integrated a set of Advance Planning Solution Tools: Numetrix and I2 Demand Planner for Intel’s Systems Group that became the model for the Intel’s Component Group Advance Planning Solutions.
  • Integrated the Systems Manufacturing and Corporate Materials Groups data through a central data warehouse including OLAP analytics and  dashboard indicators that set the foundation for their Advance Planning Systems
  • Formed a global Decision Support Service to improve business agility, technical skills and resource planning.Led an initiative to establish a Decision Support Utility to enable the foundation for Enterprise Decision Support at Intel
